From the AHAP Blog: Joint Commission accreditation of clinical labs renewed by CMS

The Joint Commission announced this week that it has been granted deeming authority for the accreditation of clinical labs under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA). This status will be in effect for the next six years, through May of 2018. The Joint Commission has been accrediting hospital lab services since 1979, and freestanding lab services since 1995.
