Member Anne Radtke, accreditation manager with the Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital/Ministry Medical Group sent in this fun survey preparation suggestion:

We did something really fun a couple of years ago (in 2007 and 2005) for a Joint Commission education called “Build-a-Sundae: Get the Scoop on JCAHO” (This obviously would be changed to spell out Joint Commission now.) I remember getting the idea off a listserv.

The object of the game is to answer survey questions correctly and build your sundae. We had tables set up in a conference room according to each chapter. On the tables there were table top billboards asking 4 questions (attached are the questions/answers). Staff needed to stop at each table, answer questions correctly to win something for their sundae (bowl, spoon, ice-cream, toppings, etc.). Attached are pictures to illustrate what we did.
