The Joint Commission’s new Patient Safety Systems chapter will be added to the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals as of January 1, 2015. Last week, the accreditor made the chapter available for public viewing.

There are no new standards or requirements in the chapter, but surveyors will expect hospital leadership and staff to explain how the facility is committed to patient safety and quality improvement efforts.
