The Joint Commission has updated its sentinel events statistics, according to an official statement on the accrediting organization’s Web site. The updates can be viewed here.

Since January 1995, when sentinel events were first recorded in the Joint Commission’s database 6,782 sentinel events have been reported (as of March 31, 2010.)
